It's complicated
...being a crane fly.
This one was trapped inside the window until I let it out to pursue its short-lived pleasures. Unusually, it appeared to have its full complement of legs.
If the paintwork looks a little spotty, it's because I follow the principal of the 18/19thC. Japanese haiku poet Kobayashi Issa who paid attention to all small creatures:
Don't worry, spiders,
I keep house
casually.
NB Craneflies are not spiders.
