Father's Day
Happy Father's Day! We had booked to go out for a nice lunch but when we realised that Thomas' end of year exams start this week we cancelled, as Thomas wanted to stay home to revise. Instead we had a delicious BBQ with some lovely lamb kebabs and spicy chicken bought from our local butcher yesterday. The lamb was truly excellent, probably far nicer than what we could have had at a restaurant. Gavin requested a sticky toffee pudding, which I duly made this morning using a Nigella recipe - in true Nigella style it was wickedly indulgent with black treacle and dark muscovado sugar, and was declared the best they had ever eaten! Here Thomas is pouring extra toffee sauce on Gavin's pudding - it's only his special day once a year so he could afford to go big and forget about those dastardly calories. Both Adam and Luke phoned their dad and I think Gavin has enjoyed his day.
Since the change in A level exams and the phasing out of AS exams, Thomas' school no longer do national AS exams as and instead they do internal exams which are much the same thing except they no longer get study leave which is a bit of a swizz. He also does not have a great timetable with a 3 hour exams which is quite tiring. They count for predictions for university applications in October.
I am finally going to watch The Darkest Hour on Sky TV, I missed it when it was showing in the cinemas and I am very keen to see it. A lazy end to the day!
