Father's Day

How lovely to see the young woodie, with the red cap, being looked after so diligently by the parents, especially today on the feeder with his dad on Father's Day. Two chicks and both great spotted woodpecker parents around doing their bit!

The mystery is now solved as to how our terrace was getting so messy with huge holes and dirt scattered hither and thither; a green woodpecker digging up the grubs in the terrace and if you look closely you can see her tongue! I hope she was eating our pesky ants! Both shots were taken through the window where I had less chance of being seen.
