Goat's beard
This Aruncus diocus will go over soon, but for now is the main attraction for tree bees which are furiously scrambling among the florets, for nectar or pollen I presume. I don't know how they gather it though as they hurry about without stopping for a moment. They're not very evident in the photo, perhaps because the wind has picked up quite a bit since I saw them earlier on. I'd wondered what had happened to the tree bees this year but it looks as if I needn't have worried. They, at least, seem to be around in good numbers, which is more than can be said for the other bees.
