Just as the pattern of our life changed when he arrived, so must it change now he has gone.
The water bowl in the bathroom has been picked up, washed and packed away. Never again will I curse as I step into into during a nighttime visit or when exiting the shower.
The nylabones buried under the bedcovers will never be rediscovered as I roll onto them in my sleep and the bed will be as tidy as I left it when I go back in the room an hour later, minus the dog sized indentation that I’d come to expect.
His harness and collar lay where I left them when I came home.
There are memories in every corner of the home and many a tear has been shed.
Roo didn’t want to walk this morning and I wasn’t going to force the issue. She has had extra treats today as we both feel the need to spoil her in a fruitless attempt to ease the pain.
