Here's a Bit of Irony for You

Dear Diary,

I have been without my generator for two months now but yesterday they came and installed a new one.  The man was saying how lucky I am to have lost it in the spring when the need for one isn't so great.  I agreed.  Four hours later a severe thunderstorm swept through and I was...wait for it...out of power!  No problem you say...new generator you say.  Well, unfortunately, it is not functioning yet because the gas people have to come and hook it up to the tank!

How bad could it be, I said.  Just a thunderstorm, it will be back on in a couple of hours but noooo….it didn't come back until 3 am!  I was worried mostly about the food in the refrigerator but it seems alright this morning. It was an unbearably hot night without the air conditioner but Emerson I managed. Today is a beautiful and much cooler one and I am going out to see if I can salvage a few peonies for a bouquet.  Life goes on.
