The Raccoon Who Climbed a Skyscraper
"Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it." - Raccoon Proverb.
Perhaps you heard about the big adventure. One day last week, a raccoon climbed a skyscraper in Minnesota. Nobody knew why she did it (and yes, the raccoon was a SHE). But she gathered quite a following on social media as she made her big climb. We couldn't watch; yet we couldn't look away.
I tuned in to the Internet and saw pictures and short videos of the climb, as well as the raccoon's short nap on a window ledge. I have to admit that I was worried sick. I even woke up in the night, at 3 a.m. thinking about her, hoping she did not fall. I couldn't bear it if she did.
And then the good news in the morning: I awoke to learn that the intrepid raccoon had attained the roof! Some wet cat food lured her into a trap. From there, she was removed to a safe place, and released. The fans rejoiced and paid tribute. She was the summer action hero we didn't know we needed; and better yet, one with a MASK!
Of course, the Crittergators followed the story with great interest. And they even sent a Crittergator Action News Red-Shirt Reporter up to interview her once she attained the roof, which is the scene you see above.
Why did she do it? Well, you already know the answer, don't you? Any climber can tell you. Hip hip hooray for the raccoon who climbed a skyscraper . . . just because . . . it was there!
The song: Miley Cyrus, with The Climb.
