Votes for women

In town for some mild shopping, having complexly forgotten that there was due to be a suffragette march to honour the centenary of (some) women getting the vote.

I found the sight of this really moving. There are so many problems, and so far to go in terms of the way women are treated, but as I’ve mentioned before my grandmother was a suffragette, and I’m sure she would have loved to have seen this.

She would probably have mentioned that despite all of her efforts (legal and otherwise) she didn’t get the vote herself at the time - you had to be at least 30 and own property - but still .....
