machair

The machair beside the beaches is beautiful at this time of year, with many kinds of wildflowers, including orchids. 

We are now on Berneray, which has one of my favourite beaches, several miles long and rarely another person in sight. 

Behind the beach is farmland, and this morning D helped a farmer round up two stray cows and their calves.
