Poplar Hawkmoth

I found this sitting by the tap on the basin in our downstairs WC and moved it outside. It is still alive, but not inclined to move. Maybe when darkness comes... It's curious, but I can't think of any poplar trees nearby. But then, I keep seeing Cinnabar moths these last few weeks and there's no ragwort around that I know of.
