Quintessential English Village Church
Dinton, south west Wiltshire.
Opposite is the cricket ground. Around the village are dotted characterful old stone houses. Their garden flowers look superb right now. There's also that sense of village pride that can make a lot of difference, both to the eye and to the sense of reassurance.
Behind the church (and essential yew tree) is the free to access National Trust Dinton Park, (and pond) which was where I was heading, with the stately Phillips House (now in private hands),
However, the church bowled me over immediately, the first shot I took from getting off the 3 times a day, 2 hourly bus service.
The clock is stuck at 12, though!
