Earthquakes - What to Do?

At the university library I found this notice of tips and safety instructions for earthquakes. 

Japan is prone to earthquakes because of its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire. Fortunately I have never experienced a big earthquake as I live in a region where fewer earthquakes have been reported than elsewhere in the country; still it's important to be aware of the ways to protect yourselves in the event of an earthquake if you live in the country.

This kind of notice would also be helpful for international students who come from countries which have experienced few or no earthquakes at all.
