West Dean

I've blipped West Dean Tea Rooms a couple of times. This is the lodge at the entrance to the long drive. West Dean is another large West Sussex estate, around 6,400 acres, with a large flint faced manor house. It's now the home of West Dean College, a respected centre for study of conservation and arts and crafts. The gardens are open to the public, but this cottage seems to have been sold off separately. It has some interesting pieces of sculpture in the garden, not easily blipped by poking my camera through the railings and bushes. One of them is the pair of wellies, with knees in them, to the left of the front door. I've always rather desired this house, its flint and brick, so typical of this area, appeal to me and it has the most lovely view of the south downs.
