View from the Hill

Busy day that started with computers not quite working. It turned out that one of our UPS systems decided to switch off due to aircon failure in the server room. We've switched it on again and things are back to normal. Then meeting up the hill at the observatory to discuss large scale databases. Ours won't be that big only a few 10s of TB, the astronomers are dealing with PB databases. Impressive stuff and very helpful meeting. As a bonus it was in the newly opened Higgs Centre with great views. The weather turned out glorious for the longest day of the year. #1 is away for a week or so on exchange to Germany. We won't be long either.
