Esther

Esther was a trainee of mine on the August CELTA, 2013.  She's down the coast for a week's holiday and came into Barcelona to meet up this lunchtime.  

I remember at the time when she told us she had 6 children, everyone gasped in surprised!  She's now added 3 grandchildren to the family and is only 52!  It was good to have time to chat as there was no time during the CELTA and then she left to go back home to Yorkshire.  When we talked about family she said there was a time when she had two kids just started school, two at nursery and a baby at home.  Her 6th and last child came after a 6 year gap and he's now 18 and the only one living at home.  Perhaps Lady F can relate to all of this if she looks in!  She said shopping was a big challenge as she'd put two in the actual shopping trolley, two in the seat bit of the trolley, one on her front.  I asked if people offered to help and she said, 'No, but lots of people just asked me if we didn't have a telly!'

She now works at Bradford College teaching English mainly to teenage immigrants and loves it.  I'm sure her students all love her too.  Even on the CELTA she had the clear makings of a great teacher and got a Pass A on the course, which come few and far between!

Before lunch Bb gave the roof terrace a good scrub, moving all the plants and furniture and I did the same for our patio.  In the evening Bb went 'over the patio wall' to trim our plants which hang over the other side and cut back and tidy up the ivy and jasmine.  I did the weeding on our side.  All looking good now for our new guests arriving tomorrow!
