From the Top

This is one thing you MUST put on your list of 'things to do' in London - the top of St Paul's Cathedral.  I have never been right to the top before although, many, many years ago I went up to the Whispering Gallery.  I was in London for another event (which turned out to be not really worth it) and thought I would take advantage of the year's pass to St Paul's and go to the top! There is a series of 'lates' through the summer when you can go in to take photographs (not normally allowed) and, for a small fee, can convert it to a year's worth of visits.  On the face of it, it seems expensive but the entry cost includes access to the top of the dome and a full audio guide.

Getting to the top involves various stages and lots of steps.  Once on the outside, photography is unrestricted and there are wonderful views across London, as long as you have a good head for heights.  The Blip is a view through the railings at the top towards the London Eye.  Very glad I did this, so put it on the many things to do before you can't manage the stairs!

I then had to head over to Westminster and the Underground was awful due to a signal failure somewhere. Eventually I made it and spent some time in Parliament Square.  There were a LOT of policemen and an even larger number of photographers.  (It didn't look like a Blipmeet!)  It was, in fact, a peaceful protest about something or other and there were people sitting down in the road at a major junction - no one was any trouble, although I was hoping for a bit of an 'incident'!
