Go wild
Safely home after a thoroughly enjoyable week exploring the Nature Reserves of Northumberland.
One part of the garden is allowed to grow wild and it has certainly done so whilst we have been away.
The house was built in 1965 on sloping limestone grassland. And every year wild orchids come up in profusion as shown here.
Finally, a correction. The other day I said that the Northumbrian Victorian house Cragside was the first house in the world to be lit by electricity. That was not strictly true. It was the first house to be lit by electricity produced by Hydro power as opposed to a generator,
