unexpected paddle

We've clocked up 14.5 miles on these feet today.  

It was not my intention to blip us today, but....
On an inland walk and after weeks of dry weather we didn't expect to jump over a fence and land knee deep in a concealed pool of muddy water.     We laughed a lot once we'd recovered from the shock.      Fortunately we didn't have to squelch too far to find a solitary bench where we could wring out our socks and boots.

I'm now going to lower myself into a warm bath.
