Back Blip: Granny Turismo - Chariots of Fire!!

We were really lucky to be able to go to the opening ceremony on Newcastle Quayside of "Get North! - The Exhibition of the North", which runs from now until 9th September. If the opening celebrations are anything to go by, it's going to be a great summer.

There was lots of street entertainment, but the highlight for us has to be the performance by "Granny Turismo", who had everyone on stitches as they charged around on their shopping trolleys (aka  modified Segways). Here they are doing their "Chariots of Fire" act. I couldn't stop taking photos of them!

The evening finished with a performance by a Tyneside band, Maximo Park, on a boat on the river, followed by an amazing show of illuminated drones dancing in the sky and then some fireworks. Sadly most of my filming of those was on video so I can't blip it, but I can blip the new water feature on the Tyne.
