The Victorian Terrace at the BRE

I was at a conference today at the BRE (Building Research Establishment) in Watford. At lunchtime we had a chance to look around a refurbishment project on site which the BRE has used to demonstrate and test various low energy technologies

They have taken an old Victorian stable block and converted it into three energy-efficient homes. They have used a variety of different techniques and materials to experiment with the options available for upgrading old buildings to achieve thermal performance levels normally only found in new buildings.
