The Big Malarkey

Poet Girl and I have spent most of today at the children's literature festival in East Park, Hull. It was a lovely event which I was attending in work capacity but it definitely didn't feel like it. There were storytellers, drawing and poetry tents and a dressing up tent which rendered Poet Girl envious of the small kids who could fit into the outfits! Around the big tent were curiosity chairs  and it was fun to watch kids going up and sitting in them and waiting til their parents saw them. The Cat in the Hat was my favourite but Poet Girl was more taken with the giraffe (extra). 
Back across the Humber Bridge this afternoon to go and seek a "going clubbing" outfit before getting picnic food for a mad family outing and a big concert night tomorrow.
Barbeque burgers in the garden and stand up comedy on TV has made for a good finish to a lovely Saturday.
