Go east to go west

There's a rationale, there really is. I had a conference in Hong Kong in the last week of June, so there seemed little point paying for the flat for a week when we weren't there, and we were paying for a hotel in Hong Kong. Hence, we cleared out, dispatched our stuff, and brought what was left with us here - which is slightly more than is optimal for a short trip to Hong Kong, but we coped, although we had to get a taxi from the airport, rather than relying on public transport.

Luckily we managed to get into our hotel room quite early, leaving time for a short rest and a wash before we went out exploring. It's very humid indeed here... It rained heavily, tropically even, yesterday, and rained more lightly this evening, and there will be rain on and off all week.

Fascinating afternoon, then a very satisfactory Thai meal this evening with PM and EK who are also here for the same conference. Hoping that I will sleep this evening and won't suffer bad jetlag, as it is a stupidly timed flight (16.45 from HEL and 07.00 into HKG, with 5 hours time difference) which isn't long enough to get any worthwhile sleep. I need to be more or less alert tomorrow.
