Whilst holiday accommodation often lacks home-things like steam-driven coffee facilities, shelvesful of books, bicycles and the internet they sometimes make up for it by having wingpiglet-friendlier (or simply larger) spaces and more sheep and horses visible from the kitchen window. Our stairs at home are not silent but they're somewhat quieter than the creaks-loudly-no-matter-where-the-feet-are-placed things here. I still have half a flask of home-brewed coffee to use up before the cafetière must be used and these days Edgar's sleep is more than sound enough to withstand some woodish creakings.
