If we didn't have hundreds of thousands of nettles and thistles within 3 metres of our property and a few ten thousands within 10 metres of this patch, I might just consider this "wildflower" patch worthwhile.

At the risk of serious bodily harm, this is the last photo of this patch.

In the middle ground another "building site" - the poor very old thuja hedge that I have tried in the past replacing with a new hedge but got a thumbs down. I have very high hopes (+50%) that I can at least remove all the dead twigs but only 10% that the dead stems can be cut away.

Light, air and water are not concepts generally accepted and certainly not the idea of "rejuvenation" or pruning.
