American Icons

So, Barack Obama has been re-elected and thank goodness for that! He is now a genuine icon for American Presidency and an orator without compare. What an embarrassing comparison with our own politicians/leaders over here. A cynics view would be that the end result will be the same however, rhetoric over reality, fudge and obfuscation; in the case of the US rule by propagation of fear or an invisible evil or terror. It is what God fearing people do !

On a lighter note, I am not going to work through hundreds of pages of my big book on 20th century icons. It is just that I did'nt manage to get out today and wast pinned down at my desk :( However, the topic of tomorrow's lecture will be Modelling!

So in an attempt to make it interesting and lighten the atmosphere (stop students falling asleep) I will start with a picture of one of America's most famous exports, the delicious Marilyn Monroe. There is also a little bit of closure here as well - as yesterday I 'blipped' a picture of JFK. These two were allegedly an 'item'. Just shows what these Presidents get up to! . Again, and note the comparison with our side of the pond (John Major and Edwina Currie) !! Americans seem to get the best deal :)

Must get out tomorrow. See what they make of the lecture :) and move on from elections and the USA.....
