Tense stuff

The annual village cricket game, those from the top of the village vs those from the bottom. Uppers vs downers. Anyone who plays cricket for the club normally is excluded, as are those who live outside the boundary of the village...ringers have been known to appear, hence it’s strictly monitored. Rules are those used for the kids game, points being dockets for a wicket and the game is just 24 overs each. Needless to say, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, it was perfect being sat on a blanket by the boundary watching the action. And close it was, with a wicket lost in the final over, the downers won by 1 run.
