CRETE DAY 3
After breakfast (a more modest one than yesterday:))) ) # we caught the boat to Spinalonga.
This was set up as a Leper colony in 1903 and closed in 1957! 900 people died here. Many felt acceptance by similar people suffering the same was better in many ways than exclusion on the mainland.
#it makes you wonder what sights these buildings have seen
#this arch was were supplies can in and things went out but only after it had been sanitized by sulphur.
How sad that all that exclusion and suffering for centuries was completely unnecessary.
In the evening we walked across the causeway to the fish restaurant. It was lovely but weren’t quite expecting the bill that arrived. I think they thought we were totally drunk...but boy did we sober up and sort it!!! £60 returned immediately. slightly suspicious!!
As we walked home we heard Greek music....and so the party began #and we danced and danced and danced!!! It was great fun.
Thankful for....lots of laughter.
