Keenley Chapel ...

... which holds a special place in Methodist history.  In 1747 John Wesley stayed at Hindley Hill farm and preached under a sycamore close to where the chapel now stands.  His sermon must have made a profound impact on the local community, for a chapel was built here soon after in 1750 making Keenley one of the oldest Methodist chapels in the world.  The chapel was rebuilt in 1875, which is the building you see today.
