Cheesy noonoos
Slowish start but once we were packed up we headed to Tobermory to collect S’s pictures then stopped in at the cheese farm. Lovely to see each stage of production and visit the cellar where the ripening cheddars were stored and turned. Lovely smell...as Mt said when I sent him this picture, they could make ‘a lot of cheesy noonoos’ (family name for mac’n’cheese)!
Drove on to Glengorm Castle and had a wander round the headland (unfortunately before we’d checked map so missed the standing stones) then chilled out a bit on the terrace at the coffee shop, basking in gorgeous hot sunshine, watching the chaffinches searching for crumbs and (unfortunately) listening to a woman prattle on about dogs and birds and prey animals almost without taking breath. Several people said how delighted they were when she and her (silent!) companion moved on!
Drove to Craignure for the ferry via a brief stop in Tobermory for a last shop, and Aros park for a walk round the beautiful lake.
Smooth crossing then the longish drive home-listening to The Vanishing Point by Val McDermid before to C’s for book group. The Vegetarian had been a very odd book that we didn’t really like but found interesting and/or weird, but the Korean themed food we had was delicious and we had a good chat
Home-tired!
