The Telegraph Tree !

According to the Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society, (Yes, there is one) foliage is one of the main hazards when it covers a pole. Mainly Russian vine which can cover a pole within 2 years or ivy. This doesn't look like ivy. Another problem on old poles when the creosote has worn off is that woodpeckers do a lot of damage, making them dangerous. My first job in Civil Service was in the Telephone Manager's drawing office. I would go out in a van  with a couple of draughtsmen, looking for lost poles on farm land. My job was to mark them accurately on a map. We also took lunch which we ate in a cool spot under a tree.  Carefree days.
