Chanaz

Today we left our modern apartment on the lac de bourget and drove a very short distance to north of the lake at Chanaz . We visited the Abbey of Hautecombe en route.

We are now staying in a very old house that has been in the same family for many generations and has not been renovated or changed. It is full of amazing vintage items - shelves of old coffee pots and baskets (some made by the owners grandfather) hang from the ceiling.

My extras show the front of the house and the kitchen.

It's location is ideal, looking onto the canal from the bedrooms, and in a pedestrian area with local artisans who have set up shops in the old houses on the cobbled alleyways.

We enjoyed a glass of local Savoie wine, and the locally brewed beer (Ian) sitting on a deck over the canal watching the boats and deciding which one we would take for our canal/lake cruise tomorrow.
