Painted skimmer....

....at least I think that's what it is. There were several different kinds of dragonflies flying around, but I only had the macro lens on the camera so it took me a bit of stalking to get close enough to one--it requires a lot of patience, as mostly they take off when you get too close.  Tom was waiting in the car so I didn't want to take too long, even though he never complains about it. I'd originally planned on getting some wildflower shots today, hence the macro lens, but there wasn't anything blooming yet in the area where I'd stopped, so the dragonfly it is. :))
