Pastoral Scene

I visited the Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve in the grounds of Duns Castle with my friend, John today. It was a glorious sunny day and we both were very taken with the little clumps of trees dotted around the meadows. I tried some Pep Ventosa impressionist multi-exposures but they did not work out very well as there was not a single tree trunk to give the image some stability. We spent quite a bit of time round the Hen Poo lake where the cattle were watering themselves and there were lots of ducks wandering around obviously hoping for some tidbits.

The only disappointment was that we could not get to see the 15 century castle which has been owned by the same family , the Hays since the 1600. It is used for weddings and corporate events and is obviously very exclusive as there were lots of notices warning you off private property.

We also climbed to the top of Duns Law which overlooks Duns and gives a marvellous panoramic view of the Borders and  north Northumberland. It was hazy today but they say on a clear day you can see as far as Bamburg Castle.
