No more use
– to me, that is. I finally decided to sell the last of my film cameras, my faithful old OM1N. I took it to CameraWorld in Stevenage, but the chap there found that the batteries, which I had foolishly left in the chamber, were corroded and had ruined the contacts. It was worth nothing.
I managed to persuade him to buy my (quite rare) XA4, but the flash for that also had a corroded battery chamber, so it was useless.
The OM1N is a mechanical camera and doesn't need electrical power to work, but who would want a meter-less camera these days? I might put it in among the toys for the small people. That feels quite wrong, though . . .
