We moved on from Tokyo today and went south to a town called Himeji. It was really a stopping off point en route to Hiroshima. It had a large castle, which would have been impressive had it not been covered in scaffolding as part of a seven year renovation project.

It was interesting to see a provincial town after Tokyo's wealth and very conspicuous consumption. Being partial to a bit of tat, I was pleased to see that the equivalent of Poundland exists in Japan too!
