Smelting
This chimney was built in the late 18th/early 19th century. It was built to serve the lead mining industry. The chimney flue acted as a cooling chamber. It is an important structure linked with a lost industry of the moor area.
After we had inspected its newly repaired brick work we had a picnic looking out over the Craven valley. The breeze was cooling and relaxing, I think I could have stayed there the rest of my life!
