Unknown Flower.
The day was spent dog-sitting in lieu of HGS while she was earning an honest crust by telling visitors to the chapel that there were no fragments of the "True Cross" concealed amongst the foundations of the chapel and, even if there were, there was no way that the Chapel Trust were going to excavate to find them.
For want of anything better to do on a hot sunny afternoon, I Blipped this attractive flower by the dog's paddling pool without the faintest idea what it is. It's subsequent seed head suggests that it might be related to the dandelion but, then again . . . . .
If anyone does drop by and recognise it, please let me know.
A Facebook friend has pointed me in the direction of the Orange Hawkweed (aka Hieracium aurantiacum and Devil's Paintbrush), seeds available for £1.95 a packet from Chiltern Seeds Ltd - or free if you live in British Columbia where they're classed as an invasive species.
