A Post Box No Longer

This post box is built into the gate post of a house. This week it seems to have been 'decommissioned'. The collection times notice has gone and the door has been removed.

It's rather sad to think that this lovely old box which has been in use for over 110 years has now reached the end of it's life. I hope it's left in place. Maybe it will become a home for some birds next spring.
