Winter Sweet

With the rain just starting I popped out onto the deck with the camera to see what I could find. A beautiful scent filled the area and I knew exactly where it was coming from. The winter sweet beside the deck is in full flower.

Although it smells heavenly, the small flower is quite humble and sits on bare branches. To really see its beauty the red lacy inner part needs to be seen by looking from under and up.

I love it for its beautiful scent in the cold months of winter. Not long after this has flowered, the daphne opens with its lovely perfume and I know then, spring is on the way.
