soap for Christmas presents

having difficulty accessing pure caustic soda to start the alchemy from the beginning (may have something to do with the fact that it is explosive) but bought a soap making pack from hobby-craft with olive oil soap ready made- just melt in the microwave and add colour and perfume- turned out a bit lurid but smells divine.
