New Life

Our old kiwi vine has begun to put out some new shoots, fuzzy sweet things springing from the base of the plant.

It's low tide, and the particular seasonal configuration of the sand blocking the river mouth allowed us an extra long walk on the beach this morning, from the pier to the lighthouse. It smelled like the ocean: salty and kelpy and absolutely wonderful.
