Red-Cockaded Woodpecker Habitat
Ft. Bragg , North Carolina has won awards for it's proactive stance in protecting and providing a safe enviroment for Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers. The tall Long Leaf Pine directly behind my Explorer, is an example of a nesting tree for this endangered species. Covered with sap to deter predators from nesting hole midway up the tall tree.
