Spring Linseed

Planted at the end of April, this linseed crop is now well into flowering and will be harvested probably early September - we hope.  It has to be combined in good weather.  The seed is tiny so the trailers have to be lined around the tail gate to prevent leakage on the way back to the barn.  By mid afternoon all the petals of the flowers will have dropped to the ground and the field will be green again until tomorrow morning.  More photographs in the Extras.
