Here's the Navy!
Is a famous yell which goes back all the way to WW-II when HMS Cossack freed British prisoners of war from the German vessel Altmark.
This is the HMS Monmouth however, also known as the Black Duke because the Monmouth is the only ship in service with the Royal Navy that has its name painted in black and flies a plain black flag in addition to the ensign. This is due to the dissolution of the title and the blacking out of the Coat of Arms of the Duke of Monmouth in 1685 following the Monmouth Rebellion against James II of England.
She is the sixth Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy. And the seventh ship to bear the name and was launched by Lady Eaton in 1991, being commissioned two years later. Monmouth and her crew of 215 will be taking over the Royal Navy's routine deployment to the Gulf through the winter and into the spring as part of of the continuous British presence in the region since the early 1980's
That's why you see here in the port of Limassol with guns and machineguns fully operational.
An early picture today because I will fly home today. After a short leave I will join the Husky again for a last and final trip in december. After 28 years years service on the Husky and Retriever, this period will come to a definitive end then and I will join the new to build tug Bylgia which will be ready for service june next year.
