Here There Be Dragons

On one of the hottest days of the year, my husband got the crazy idea in his head that he needed to go for a jog. And so, what the heck, I went along, except that I didn't jog; I hiked, with camera. We went to the gamelands a short distance from our house.

It was already quite warm out, even though it was relatively early morning, and the mosquitoes were ravenous. If you stopped even for a second, they would be on you, biting.

I stopped at the edge of a favorite beaver pond that is still covered in green pollen for some photos. It was apparently a great time for dragonflies, because I had several instantly sit down near me.

So above is my best dragonfly shot. And in the extras, you may see the green (though quite warm) paradise where this dragonfly lives. Yes, these are my shots; I sweated to death and got bitten by mosquitoes to earn them!
