...A night at the opera of two halves. Huw Watkins  45-minute 'In the Locked Room' (2012) was too long by 45 minutes. Peter Maxwell Davies' 70-minute 'The Lighthouse' (1979) was jut the right length, well staged,  perfectly performed by singers and orchestra, engaging from start to finish and hugely atmospheric.
