There Is A Reason .............

............. for this rather boring photo.

I have been asked to take a family portrait.

I don't have the equipment and knowledge, yet, to do an indoor shoot (See yesterday!)

So an outdoor shoot was decided upon. The family members live in Dumbarton so I thought Dumbarton Castle might be a good place to do this. I was in Dumbarton today so took a drive past to see. I think these steps would be great. Unfortunately the opening times are now on a winter schedule so I had to take this from the closed gate. Unfortunately, when open, this green door is also open.

Still think I like the location.

Now, advice requested.
I have an 18-105mm lens and a 70-300 lens both of which I would use however, now that I have my lovely new 50mm lens should I use this for group portraits? As I've only had it a few weeks I'm still a bit unsure about it. (Six adults and two kids in the group).
