Chillingham

Our village camera group competition is "Castles and Follies" this time, so that was an excuse to nip off this afternoon, after my yoga class in the neighbouring village, to Chillingham.
I love the place. It's tatty, and lived in, and full of character (and "characters", but that's another tale). Main pic shows the weather vane on one of the towers. The family emblem is a bat!
I had a quick trot around the castle. It's not very big, and The public rooms only occupy part of it. I know my way round well, although I am rarely there in daylight!
Extras are the front, the courtyard, and the window that was inserted into the wall of one of the rooms, when Edward 1 came to stay for a couple of months, while he was after William Wallace. Sometimes you see bats in that window recess too.
