Albert Dock
Before we headed towards Herefordshire, we mozied into Liverpool 1 to do a little shopping and take a wander around the Albert Dock.
It has certainly changed since the late 1970s when I was a student here in Liverpool. All very smart now and full of life and prosperity.
Now we have arrived in the small country town of Bromyard in Herefordshire. From 1971 to 1982, this was our nearest town for general shopping and I used to know it well. But today it looks rather sad and run down, with several of the pubs and hotels closed.
But the Falcon Hotel where we are staying is full of charm and olde world quaintness. None of the floors is level and to walk the length of the bedroom or any corridor is a challenge of balance and nimble footwork.
Tomorrow we go to the old family home in the village of Whitbourne to reunite Mum and Dad under the oak tree on the hill.
