Galveston Island .....
We had a leisurely morning before meeting up with Elaine, Ed and Piper.
We decided since their campground is on the southern end of Galveston Island to check out some wildlife areas down that way. We met them at the campground and then drove (in separate vehicles) south to Kelly Hamby Nature Trail, which is off Galveston Island. There wasn’t much to this trail other than it going out to a beach along the gulf. The beach was nice and there were a few fishermen and lots of birds.
After a quick lunch on the road we went further off the island to Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary. It was here that we saw a few hummingbirds and the Chestnut Sided Warbler featured in my collage. We also saw the Scarlet Tanger as we were leaving.
We were back at our condo by 4 pm so that we could get ready for tonight’s first meeting with all the other BoBBers! Most of the other blippers are staying at a hotel up the street from our condo and it was arranged that we would all meet up there by 5 pm.
And what a great evening we had! There are about 16 of us all together counting blippers, spouses and Piper! Richard and I were meeting everyone for the first time even though we only live about an hour from Debbi (dbifulco)! What an amazing group of people and I am so looking forward to the next few days to get to know everyone better. This fabulous blipmeet lasts from now until Sunday … Saturday evening actually. The blippers included in the blipmeet are BikerBear (our leader!), pipersmom, wrperry, shirleyray, loisbiz, dbifulco, photomatt, osuzanna, HillyBlips, Hilly's husband Simon, Naturelover, LoveNaturelover .... and Richard, Eddie and Piper!!
We were back at our condo by 8:30 pm but not before arranging to meet up with everyone in the morning to go over plans for tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
